House-museum of Vladyslav Krasnoshchok

Installation / 2010 / ongoing

Vladyslav Krasnoshchok is a member of the Kharkiv School of Photography and one of the founders of the art group Shilo (founded in 2010). In addition to his versatile artistic practice, he also continues his medical career, which often influences his artwork. In addition to certain photographic series devoted to the daily routine of an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, his medical experience is also manifested in the method of his artistic practice. Fascinated by a new technique, the artist carefully explores its possibilities until he feels he has mastered all its facets. Working with assemblage, street art, collage, tattooing, or coloring vintage photographs, the artist seems to dissect existing images, breaking them down into their parts and then stitching them together according to his own aesthetic preferences.

For a long time, Krasnoshchok labeled his photographs with the inscription "museum," emphasizing the value of the works and their prospects of being included in a world museum. In 2017, the artist created a museum of his works in his childhood home. Especially for the Sense of Safety project, the author installed his interior items and artworks, thus recreating a part of his home museum in the public space. The author emphasizes that with the outbreak of a full-scale war, he especially feels the need to surround himself with familiar and valuable objects that contribute to his emotional peace. In this way, the artist demonstrates to the audience one of the ways of self-support and self-stabilisation.
