Screening of the film "Civilians. Invasion" by Daniil Revkovskyi and Andrii Rachynskyi
As part of the "Bridges of Solidarity," the two co-curators of the "Sense of Safety" exhibition, Tatiana Kochubinska and Maxim Tyminko, will be showing the film "Civilians. Invasion" (2023) by Daniil Revkovskyi and Andrii Rachynskyi in the studio of Düsseldorf based artist, member of the antiwarcoalition.art, Helmut Schweizer.
For the film "Civilians. Invasion" (2023) the artists collected archival videos from open sources recorded by civilians during the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine. Searching for materials by the names of cities and towns and by keywords such as "shelling", "burial", etc., they viewed several thousand videos. With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, the content of ordinary private accounts changed: staying in basements, evacuating from occupied territories, and trying to survive. On some of these channels, the last videos were uploaded in March-April 2023, and they were no longer updated. The fate of the authors of these channels is unknown.
The film is Ukraine's contribution to the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024.
